It has been a crazy week for the cannabis industry. Last Friday on April 3rd cannabis retailers found out they had to close their doors the following day (Saturday) by 11:59 pm, and that the OCS would be the sole legal available option for Ontarians to purchase cannabis from. Being removed from the essential list was not expected, but we must say we are happy that it didn’t last.

The decision to close legal cannabis retail stores was reversed Tuesday evening on April 7th. We are proud to have been at the forefront of this decision reversal, working collaboratively with industry leaders like Cova, Leafly, Hello Cannabis, and Superette to bring needed change for the cannabis community.

Within mere hours of The Hunny Pot’s doors closing last week, signs in support of the illicit market were posted on our storefront windows. This was a big sign to all of us and the greater community. Collectively, we have spent the last year battling the illicit market in trying to provide safe, regulated cannabis products to cannabis users, for it to be taken away overnight. Without having legal retails shops open, we were opening the barriers to the illicit market and unable to protect our customers during a very uncertain time.

Today, we are happy to announce that The Hunny Pot will re-open its doors in both Toronto and Burlington and that we can continue to provide safe, quality cannabis products. We are thrilled to see cannabis stores around the city and beyond, opening their doors so that they too can support their communities and ensure safety in a time of despair.

At The Hunny Pot, we have made several changes to our operations to ensure the safety of our staff and customers, and we will continue to do so as necessary and needed. This way your questions can still be answered prior to ordering, and we can assist in finding you the right product.
